Data science & engineering
You can always make business decisions like a philosopher, based on beliefs, discussions and logical reasoning.
If you add data to it, you can make decisions like a scientist. Out of the two, the scientific method is clearly superior, and that's what I propagate.
In the world of business, most data-science professionals specialise more in data than in science. This means that they know how to use standard tools to solve standard problems following standard procedures.
But if you have a less-common situation that requires a more creative solution addressing a deeper problem – you need to focus on science more than on data. Scientific approach allows to evaluate what kind of data is relevant, what can and cannot be compared, how much it can be trusted and what should be ignored. Solid science saves time, resources and prevents mistakes.
I specialise in both – data + science.
